Our Ability To Procure, Develop, and Maintain Exhibits Depends On The Generosity Of Patrons Like You!

Contribute to Help Restore the E8's Fund

In 2007, the Medina Railroad Museum acquired a pair of 1953 vintage E8 Passenger Locomotives in their original New York Central Lightning Stripe paint scheme! #4080 and #4068 are presently being stored in Medina, NY near the museum. When shop time can be leased, a small group of volunteers is diligently working toward bringing both units up to FRA requirements for service on the museum's excursions between Medina and Lockport. As a display of historic preservation “in motion”, it is our intent to operate and maintain the units with all original components. Since both locomotives have been out of service for several years, many parts of their vital systems are in need of repair or rebuild. We will thoroughly and methodically continue with the upgrade program to initiate the next critical phase of inspections and test runs to get all the bugs out. More funding is needed to get these locomotives readied for revenue service. Your donation to the Museum’s “I HELPED TO RESTORE THE E8s" fund will help us toward completing the necessary repairs for full operation and also underpin a solid program to run them for the public as often as possible.

The Medina Railroad Museum is a tax-exempt organization under IRS 501(c)(3) and donations are tax-deductible in the United States. Donations can be accepted via mail. Come and see them! Just call the Museum to make arrangements. It is our hope that operation of this equipment will help the Museum in achieving higher recognition as a historic resource and tourist destination.

Donate to the Museum Collection

The Medina Railroad Museum (MRRM) is deeply grateful to all those who donate to our Collections. Donations to our Museum Collections support and assist us in fulfilling our mission to preserve and interpret the story of railroading history.

All donation requests are thoughtfully considered to ensure that donated objects complement our collecting focus and aid in fulfilling our mission as an educational institution. Due to limited funds, storage space, and concern for the required preservation needs of each object, we are only able to accept donations that are in line with the Museum’s mission and collecting focus.

If you wish to donate an artifact to the museum, please complete the form below for our review.

Please be prepared to supply pictures and as much historical information as is reasonably possible. MRRM is unable to accept donations that are left or abandoned on our property without prior approval. All prospective donations must be reviewed and approved by the Archivist, Executive Director and possibly the Board of Trustees.

Due to conflict of interest laws, MRRM is not able to provide an appraised value for objects.

Questions Regarding Artifacts:

Much time and thought goes into accepting any potential donations. Every item is carefully put into consideration by our archivist, director, coordinator, and board of trustees. We want to make sure that any item is suitable for our museum, and can be cared for.
